President-Kristin Fowler Kristin Fowler, the 2007-2008 Forensic Team President and 2006-2007 Forensic Team Vice-President, is a senior this year. In the past year, she was named 3rd in the State in Humorous Interpretation at THSSDL, named Best Actress in THSSDL District II, won numerous awards in Individual Events, with several first places in Humorous Interpretation, Storytelling, and Solo Acting. As a junior she was third in THSSDL district in Storytelling and was able to advance to the THSSDL State tournament, and she was a District champion in Interpreters Theatre. She was also a member of the Forensics Team Appointed Executive Officer Staff. She has attended tournaments throughout Tennessee, as well as Georgia, Alabama, and Hawaii. She has competed in numerous tournaments in Prose Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, Program Reading, Duo Interpretation, Duet Acting, Solo Acting, Storytelling, Congress, and Public Forum Debate. She is also a member of the DCHS Drama Club and has served a role in the plays Guys and Dolls, The Diary of Anne Frank as “Margot”, and, most recently, The Curious Savage as “Fairy May”. This year she received the Drama Club’s Best Actress Award and the Forensics Team Junior MVP Award. Kristin performed in the ATA production of “Check, Please. “ Vice-President-Emily Stark Emily Stark, the 2007-2008 vice president , 2006-2007 historian, and 2005-2006 executive staff member, has competed in storytelling, extemp and impromptu. She has also won awards in Oratory, Duo, Duet, DI, and Congress. She is a junior. This past year she competed in the THSSDL State finals, placing 5th in OO. Emily was 1st alternate her freshman year to nationals and 5th alternate her sophomore year in Congress. She’s also competed out of state in North Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, and Georgia. She is a drama club member and a member of the National Thespian society. Secretary-Lacy Pearce Lacy Pearce, secretary for 2007-2008, has placed multiple times in storytelling and duo interpretation. She also won awards in NFL congress. She is a junior this upcoming year. She competed last year in numerous tournaments throughout Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky.
Treasurer-Rochelle Breen Rochelle Breen is a senior during the 2007-08 school year. Rochelle was elected Presiding Officer at the THSSDL State Tournament in 2007. During that same school year, she placed 6th in Extemporaneous Speaking at the THSSDL District Tournament and also was an alternate at the NFL Congress Qualifiers tournament. Historian/Reporter—Steven Winterfeldt Steven Winterfeldt, a senior, is the historian/reporter for the 2007-2008 Forensic Team. During the 06-07 year, he and partner Phillip Masengill, placed 13th in the Nation in Public Forum Debate and took 2nd place in Public Forum Debate at the National Qualifier tournament. Steven also placed 3rd in TV Newscasting at the District level and 2nd in the same event at THSSDL State Head Coach-Glenda Sullivan Mrs. Sullivan has served as DCHS Forensic Team coach for many years. She has coached two national champions in Expository Speaking (2004 and 2005) as well as the national champion in the Lincoln Financial Group Video Speech Contest (2002), two runner-ups in the video contest (2004 and 2005), and a national finalist in Expository Speaking (2002) and 13th in the Nation in PFDebate (2007). She was recently awarded the NFL Distinguished Service Plaque. Mrs. Sullivan has coached numerous state champions and national qualifiers in every individual event as well as Congress and Public Forum Debate. In 2004, she was named Communicator of the Year by the Hawaii Speech League. In 2003, she was awarded the NFL Distinguished Service Key for her great service to the NFL National Tournament and was named as the new inductee into the THSSDL Hall of Fame. In 1995, she won the Ruby Krider award for excellence in teaching the forensic arts. She won THSSDL District II Educator of the Year in 1992 and 1995. She completed a tenure as State Chair of the Tennessee High School Speech and Drama League (THSSDL) in 2001 after serving as District Director and District Representative for District II for a number of years. She was named Tennessee’s Teacher of the Year of the Humanities for 2000-2001 school year. Mrs.Sullivan continues to serve on the Tennessee NFL District Committee. She teaches Latin, Forensics, and Advanced Theatre at Dickson County High School and has taught English IV, English II, Special Education, and Theatre I in the past at DCHS. Mrs. Sullivan also teaches or has taught Fundamentals of Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Introduction to Theatre at the collegiate level for Austin Peay State University.
